What is the shallow pool effect?
1. Causing a "shallow pool effect" that causes particles to settle to the bottom of the inclined tube, trap and fall off.
2、 The main function of inclined pipe fillers in sedimentation tanks
1. The length of the inclined tube sedimentation tank is L, the horizontal flow velocity in the tank is V, and the particle settling velocity is u0. In an ideal state, L/H=V/u0. When the L and V values remain unchanged, the shallower the pool body, the smaller the suspended particles that can be removed. If a horizontal partition is used to divide H into three layers, with each layer depth of H/3, and under the condition that u0 and v remain unchanged, only L/3 is needed to remove u0 particles. That is, the total volume can be reduced to one-third of the original. If the length of the pool remains unchanged, due to the depth of the pool being H/3, the horizontal flow rate can be increased by 3v, and particles with a sedimentation rate of u0 can still be removed, which means the processing capacity can be increased by times. By dividing the sedimentation tank into n layers at the same time, the processing capacity can be increased by n times. This is the shallow pool theory proposed by Hazen in the early 20th century.
